Hi iam having problems booting up My friends Emachine, when booting up he gets the following msg :

Kernal Data inpage error, if this is the first time you have seen this stop error message restart your computer and follow the instructions
beginning dump of physical memory _

At this point it doesnt go anyfurther so he presses alt-cntl-del to reboot and then he got this error :-

    intel r boot agent fev4.1.16 copyright(c) 19971-2004,intell coorperation intel(r) boot agent pxebasecode (pxe/2.3 build 082)
copy right (c) 1997-2004. intel coorperation
    pxe-e61""media testfailure, check cable
pxe-m0f''exiting Intel boot agent.no Bootable device--insert bootdisk and press any key

When he puts the boot disk in, he gets the same error!

pxe-m0f''exiting Intel boot agent.no Bootable device--insert bootdisk and press any key

we tried rebooting a few time we then got a blue screen and it performed chkdsk and it says ''windows has found serious error, please remove any recent hardaware or software installiations'' it then continues to perform the CHKDSK function and it started up! i then tried the CHKDSK function when we got up and running from the 'run Command' and then all of the above happened again!

    would appreciate any help

he has emachines system with SATA hard drive, iam suspecting he has problem with this! but not sure

    Many Tanks!

You need to check in he BIOS if the CD/DVD drive is set as the first boot devie. It sounds like the hard drive can't boot. If you reboot and the hd is still set as the first boot evice, you will keep getting the same error.

Have you opened the computer and checked all the cables as the one message suggested?
Also, does the computer have a floppy drive? A dead floppy drive can prevent a computer from booting.

hi, the boot sequence is set at HD first and then cd/dvd drive!
he was getting the same error when the boot sequence was set at cd.dvd fisrt and then HD, so i changed the this in the bios to see if he could boot directly from the HD, when i changed it, it started up with no problems and was working great for about 4 weeks! then his wife tried to download something (application form from jobcentre plus)and this is where the problems started again! and we got the erros listed below! he told me a friend of a friend took it away and reintalled XP, there was then 2 versions of XP on the machine this was noticable when the pc booted up!
iam just wondering if this has anything to do with it! at first i though his drive was faulty, until i changed the boot sequence and all seemed find, however now hes getting the same issue!now iam thinking his Hd is goosed,
all cables are fine, opened the tower up and checked this!

    Thanks Again!

    Well I found this
So maybe the hd is locked. Also look around in the BIOS at all the settings to be sure nothing about booting from a network is listed as a top priority.

Someone said that in the BIOS they selected load the default settings and it fixed it.
    Someone else
He noted that this option was NOT on the main screen.
