Just down loaded e-mail checker and I can't seem to get my e-mails listed. I follow the directions, when I get to my emails, I can't seem to add them on, I put down the email as it requested and when I hit next, it opens my mail, but then I am stuck. What do I do next? I hit the add button but it just makes that noise like you are supposed to do something first, but I can't. Help!

I think you're doing someting wrong. See if you follow what I outline here.

After you open E-Mail Checker, there are three buttons. Check, Check All, and Add. Click Add. In the first field, type the URL of the e-mail website (NOT your e-mail address) - for example, mail.yahoo.com. In the second field, type in a description - for example, Yahoo! Mail. Click Next. The web site you typed in the previous step should start loading in the frame on the right. Click the field where you would normally type your username - for example, the text box labelled Yahoo! ID. After that, click the field where you would normally type your password - for example, the text box labelled Password. You should see an alert box titled Complete with the text "Good! Please click Next to continue." Click OK and click Next. In the first field type the username for your account. In the second field type your password. Click Next. You will be back at the initial E-Mail Checker window, and a new E-Mail listing should appear at the bottom of your current list. Click on the e-mail you want to check and click Check, and a new browser window (like Internet Explorer) will open, logging into your web mail account automatically.

If you ask me, however, I don't like this program. =.=

Ok I went back and followed your instructions, and this part you said: Click the field where you would normally type your username - for example, the text box labelled Yahoo! ID. After that, click the field where you would normally type your password - for example, the text box labelled Password. Well that never comes up, I end up right at my mail allready logged in! And by the way why don't you like this program? Just curious. The only reason I am trying it, is to make checking my e-mail easier and I am having, been having for quite some time, trouble reaching my road runner mail, I have to go to home page and click on web mail and go through all the id stuff. I used to just click on Outlook Express, but something happened and it went 'poof' and is no longer there, and I have contacted the road runner support and got it back on, but something always goes wrong and I lose it again! So was just trying to bypass all the log in stuff. Thank you for your help, and I need it again! Any more suggestions to as what the heck I am doing wrong?

I would guess that you have a cookie (one of those "remember me" things) that logs you into your mail automatically. To delete all your cookies do this:

    1. Open Internet Explorer.
    2. Click the Tools menu and click Internet Options.
    3. Click Delete Cookies.
    4. Click OK when it asks you if you want to delete all cookies in the Temporary Internet Files folder.

Going back to the same spot in E-Mail Checker should take you to the URL you entered in the previous step instead now, where you may see the username and password fields.

Ok, I did that and now all I get is "page cannot be found" and all that stuff that comes with it, like press the refresh button! What did I do? You are so good with instructions, easy to follow and I did exactly what you said to do! I guess I will just head to the barn and give this all a break. Thanks anyhow.

Wow. You're getting "page cannot be found"? My first guess is that you typed the URL wrong, so I would advise you to try again. If it still doesn't work, maybe you should give me the URL to your webmail site so I can check it out.

Ahh yes, tried it again, and on the rr site it came up 'Internet Explore cannot fing this server............. So I tried the yahoo site and got right into my mail again! Yesterday I deleted the cookies like you said............ this is so frusterating. Ok, so what would be the correct URL for road runner, hotmail and yahoo? I typed the yahoo in just like you said, the others I just did what I thought it would be. Besides I am not a computer whiz, what exactly do you mean by URL? And stop shaking your head!!LOL :D

You mentioned you didn't like this program, is there one similar to it that you would recommend? Anything easier would sure make my day!! :D

    *blinks innocently*

    I wasn't shaking my head. ;)

URL is the jargon that appears in the Address toolbar in Internet Explorer when you visit web sites. It typically starts with "http://"

I think the URL for rr webmail login is https://webmail.wi.rr.com/ . For hotmail try http://www.hotmail.com , or if that doesn't work try http://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?lc=1028&id=2 .

As for the program, I only have one e-mail that I can access from almost any browser so I've never really looked into similar programs. The reason I don't like it is because it feels unfinished. You can't even delete the E-Mail accounts without deleting the .dat file, which clears all of them.

P.S. I did raise my eyebrow once or twice, if you have to know. Don't worry, I know not everyone's civilized. :D

Hey it worked for the road runner account!!!! But not the others :( I will keep trying, will go back and do the cookie thing again! What about the correct URL for yahoo?

Very funny!!! I tried the first URL for hotmail and it didn't work, so tried second one and it is in Chinese! LOL :D Will keep trying. I am laughing, hope you are! :D

Ok I got them on except the yahoo one, so I go to open it and check it out and nothing not there! IT's like I have to start over, nothing on the list, when I did them and everything came up like you said, it showed them on the list, but now nothing. And I thought when I clicked onto the 'desk' icon it would open up automatically like all the other icons, no, it opens up like a folder and then I have to click on it again, then this thing comes up asking me if I want to run the program. Well I am really discouraged, so I give up, but thanks for all your help, it has been fun and a learning experience!
