Though consider myself pretty computer literate, this business of e-mail scanning with AVG 7 (free) has me snowed. After much wasted time trying to set up the Personal E-Mail Scanner, I found the FAQs on the Grisoft site that said if I'm using MS Outlook I don't need the scanner at all. OK, so I uninstall it. Now I seem to have no way to turn on/off scanning of incoming and outgoing mail or certification of either. Also no AVG icon anywhere in Outlook. How do I know e-mail scanning is even working?

Re: E-Mail Scanning in AVG 7 (SOLVED)

Well, don't I feel stupid. I didn't realize that I had to actually INSTALL the MS Outlook plug-in. Since the documentation said AVG 7 supports Outlook, The Bat and Eudora, I figured the necessary plug-ins were included in the basic installation. Wrong. I had to choose Custom Installation and pick the Outlook plug-in. Works like a charm now.
