E-mails are disappearing

I use Outlook express. I have never had a problem like this before.

Yesterday, I clicked send/receive and I can see messages being downloaded, but my inbox remains empty. I looked at all my connections and that doesn't seem to be it.

Is there somewhere I may have missed looking...or is there some sort of malware/worm/trojan that could be causing this?

I did not make any changes that would cause this to happen all of a sudden. I am stumped.
