    Hey I've been lurking on these forums for a long time, and everything I've needed has been posted thusfar.

    However, now I've got a somewhat unique problem. After cleaning off my friend's computer using the great tutorials provided, I'm now getting this "E6F1873B.DLL not found" error every time the computer boots.

    I have run everything in the tutorial, and even run HijackThis and "fix"ed some common problems. I removed several hundred bits of malware with AdAware SE and SpyBot S&D as per the tutorial (with necessary plugins attached). Although, SpyBot S&D locks up and crashes when it attemps to remove a specific piece of malware, though the name of it escapes me now (I remember it had a capital X in it and everything else was lowercase like eXtend or something to that effect). I can look it up if necessary.

    I'm running HJT from a c:\ directory, performing most scans in safe mode, I have avast! running as well as Trojan Hunter, etc. Everything is exact to the tutorials' specifications.

    Can anyone help me remove the application that Windows is loading on startup that requires this crazy DLL (that I've apparently removed)?

    Thanks in Advance.

    If anyone is curious regarding this issue, here is how to fix it:

    Click Start -> Run
    type the following text:
    Code:
    regsvr32 /u c:\windows\system32\D9EBC318C.DLL
    And hit "OK". Hit "OK" to the confirming dialogue box.

    Close all windows and active applications and run Hijack This from a C:\ folder (not Documents & Settings or any folder underneath it, such as your Desktop). In there you'll find an O4 entry of rundll32.exe running E6F1873B.DLL, D9EBC318C or perhaps just the latter, or the latter paired with a different former.

    Either way, it's naughty, and it should be punished. Check it and hit "Fix" to remedy this.

    Restart immediately and you should be good to go! :D

    Nope! Thanks for looking out for me, though.
