Computers/ IT are just entertainment for me. Just fixing stuff for family and friends.

Its been a long road. I just scheduled my third and final test that will be one more MCP, and resulting in my MCSD.

I wasn't originally interested in doing it, but it helps my company in getting certain competencies (We have several gold and silver partner competencies). These come with their own perks, such as being able to offer discounted MS licenses (Server, 365, etc), to us being a priority referral in our region (MS will refer clients to us in our region).

Its been a lot of work, thats for sure.

All tests aim for 3-5 year experience. There are a few different MCSDs out there. I am completing the one for Web Applications.

The first one requires you to show proficiency in developing programming solutions using:

I had three months experience when I took this test.
70-480
HTML5 -markup standards, localStorage, sessionStorage, cookies, security
CSS3 - style standards, layout, animation, pseudo elements
Javascript/Jquery - AJAX, event handlers, mobile responsiveness, selectors

The second test I had a year's worth of experience:
70-486
ASP.NET MVC - design patterns, coding best practices, controllers, views, view models, models, Razor syntax, interfaces, handlers, routes, authentication, authorization, coding (naturally), performance, partial classes and partial views, web.config, entity framework, validation.
WCF - DataContracts, Members, and Security
Azure - hybrid applications
Visual Studio - Intellitrace and error handling configurations
Owin and SignalR - real time web communication (web rtc)
Javascript/Jquery - basics

The third test I have little experience with but will have to work hard for it before June 24th. I'm not entirely sure what all is on it. I'm very capable with web services but not Azure.

Congrats! I know those are not easy tests. I've looked into doing them when NT4 was around, just didn't get motivated. But, I did take quite a few classes in the 90's. Purchased via the Navy back in the day. Well worth them.

I passed 70-487 today.

I am now officially a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer.
