Earphone jack problem

I'm hoping someone could help me here.

I'm using an Ax3400 Win 7 64bit with laptop style speakers plugged into the front port, then because it was late night i wanted to use my earphones to listen to some music so i plugged them in, and no sound was playing out of them

I went the start bar and clicked on the Realtek HD audio manager and found out by unplugging and plugging the earphones that it was reconizing when i plug them in and even pressing the Test button (on the directional sound menu) made little jingles play in each headphone.

Outside of that program nothing will send music through my headphones, can anyone help me out?
