Tony H, the author of EasyCleaner, has split from the people who talked him into making EasyCleaner Shareware, and it is available as Freeware again. Just read about this in the Langa Letter today. It's available through MG, and there's a direct download at Tony's page that states that it is (for sure) Freeware, as the MG link says it is.

ToniArts Link -- but try the MG link first.

It looks a LOT better than it used to be, and lots of reputable geeks swear by it. If you loved it and lost it (cuz you wouldn't pay for it), here's your chance to love it again.

(This is a news item, not an endorsement.)

Just bumping this because I posted it late last night, and would like to make sure today's readers see it.
    H.A.N.Day! :D

WW - The program may be free, but, if I'm understanding it right, in order to download the program from their site, you need to pay for a year membership to use their programs. Otherwise, downloading from MG is a better way to go to obtain it

    Yo, Ken!
Thanks for that nice catch! I didn't actually try to d/l the prog when I saw that it was freeware again, so I didn't see (until you educated me) that the sign-up form comes between the download link and the user on the ToniArts site.

Just now tried the site and saw what you said. TY for the Heads Up.

But "downloading from MG" is ALWAYS "a better way to go to obtain it," so I tried the MG link, installed and tried the program, and it looks fine ... and it IS freeware, with no sign-up or payment involved, if you get it the "better way to go!"

Looks slick and professional. I'm sure fans of the program will be really pleased with the latest (freeware) version.

Thanks for that, Flasher. I've updated the program on my computer. I'll try several of the routines of the program next housekeeping session, to compare it to my standard apps.

IMO, though, you shd always turn OFF autoupdating on every app you have as soon as you finish installing it. Check for updates frequently, on your own schedule, but no autochecking.

Let it kick into autochecking just once when you're in the middle of a 5 MB download or a disk imaging op or a big CD burn, and watch your blood pressure rise.

AND many progs that autoupdate have to run a scheduler all the time to manage the checking timing. The latest Java runtimes are default-set to autoupdate, for instance, and if you don't open the Java console and kill that, you'll have jusched.exe running in your list of Processes every time you boot. No big deal, but it takes two megs of memory, and I spend a lot of time making sure that NOTHING takes memory from me that I don't WANT taking memory.
