Well I have posted and cleaned up my laptop, and after much adue, and continued strange behavior of the laptop, decided to format and re-instal.

I found 4 partitions on my hard drive, bought it new and did not make them.

    (earlier before the format)

After creating a restore point believing my machine to be clean, still had troubes. I restored to that point two days ago and turbo lister came back, it was totally removed when I made the restore point. I do not know if what came back was functional, but it was back.

Question, is there some security exploit with ebay turbo lister?

I mean it is just way to odd and I am not a newb to the internet, I dont fall for scams and only sign in on the ebay site, etc. (ebayer for 6 years).

So can software change/create partitions and add some form of program and run unknown and invisible to virus scan... being that I didn't even know I had 4 partitions, and they did not show under my computer.

I am involved with setting up linux on another machine and partitioning has come up, and some software recomendations for easy partitioning. So is it possible for a hack to create something of this nature?

Who would be interested in researching this an making the find, should this be a real thing not discovered yet?

I'll be back online tomorrow gotta run tonight.

    HI

Secunia list no issues with ebay turbo lister as yet http://secunia.com/product/10285/?task=advisories not to say their may not be some new unknown ones but they are normally quick to have reports of issues with applications.

I've not come across malware that would remotely partition your drive, if someone did however have remote access then they possibly could.

I would run the Read Me guide and attach your logs for the guys to look over.

Halo, thanks for taking a peek.

It's done, I am dissapointed with the whole situation, and nobody really cares what I have to say (it is usually blunt and not sugar coated).

I will say that since this whole episode, my confidence in the geek community has deminished some.

And Halo, since you have been around quite awhile, I do appreciate you stopping in and responding.

I am on record with my theories of turbo lister and partitioning. Should some major discovery happen down the road, well at least I know where I was in regards to it. And like the guy who takes credit for finding the sony dvd problems, My theories are documented.

Maybe there is nothing there also. I have moved on. I spent alot of time trying to get the laptop cleaned up, I followed procedures as best as possible, only to have to reformat and loose programs that will be difficult to get back.

Those procedures did not work in my case. Thus, I believe I stumbled onto something new. But I have since erased my hd and can no longer investigate the sources.

My theories seem so far fetched to some, that I get dismissed as a nutcase. Fine. But I do have the added advantage on not being constrained to the standard PC thought process.

I am not going to defend myself on this anymore. If anyone is genuinely interested fine, contact me.

My machine is fixed, (except for the bluetoothe stack) but not by using the procedures set forth on this site or one other site. It was fixed using a zero format on a mac. Regular format on the windows did not completely erase the hd.

So thanks for your interest, but no thanks on posting more logs. (I can't, they are all gone)

I would like to thank you for at least leaving it open that there may be an issue, and that just because it is not known, that this problem does not exist. This shows that you are educated in computers, knowing that all is not known. ;)

I have a couple topics started, and when I put it all together things make sense to me. I have learned greatly here, by default, and by input from other members.

But is MG (or geeks here) willing to spend time chasing a possible wild goose? I know enough about computers to get me in trouble. I do not know languages, and how they talk with hardware.

My theory is sound. It is up to someone else to prove or disprove it. My problems are fixed, what's in it for me? What's in it for you? What's in it for MG?

So again while I do appreciate the help I receive here, also understand my animosity towards self professed geeks at this time. I do much just for the challenge. The payoff is achieving knowledge and understanding.

At MG I notice alot more advertising and adspace for rent stuff, so what is MG's Main purpose now?

And Halo, it is difficult at best for me to be cordial after the locking and pulling of the response to the good night thread. It is the little people who do make this forum work. I care enough about MG to say what I think, however unpopular I may be. I have never been blessed with diplomacy. :D

    That's all
    Dave
