    Hi guys

Hope things are great for you all, seems to be from posts. I was running around the Net and fell across this.

    http://www.couplescompany.com/Features/Politics/2004/BigBrotherPregnancy.htm

Passed it on to a couple of people, (pun unintended), at our HO in Chicago and they hadn't heard about this.

Just wondered what your perspective was on this, particularly as you have public figures like Barack Obama.............oh wait, you've got the Keyes to the Kingdom now as well;)

Anyhoo, just wondered what your thoughts were from Chi

Well, I haven't heard of any such thing, but of course it doesn't sound real good. What I do know is that my wife and children won't be going in for any state mandated psychiatric test if I have anything to say about it...and even if they do try to force us. Sorry, guess they'll have to take us to jail.
I'm wary, but not worried, if you know what I mean.

have not heard of this either but I doubt if it would come to fruition in Central Illinois. Hard enough to get the parents of children who actually NEED help to participate in any testing, can't imagine the headaches of trying to enforce this one.

On a different note, eclayton, what are we going to do for hockey this year bud? The NHL does not look as if it's going to happen.

We're going to go to Wolves games. The Blackhawks never do very well anyway. I'll miss the Flyers though :(

We are Blues fans ourselves, probably going to just have to settle for the Rivermen in the ECHL. Have not watched any AHL yet. May have to do so though, hope we can find a station that will be carrying it! Did not mean to hijack the thread, sorry about that.

Don't think there are any stations that carry Wolves games either, but the tickets are way cheaper than Blackhawks, the Wolves play better, and they're more likely to win anyway, so we plan on making at least a couple of games this season.

    I think I've got myself a new sport! :D

    This is the best:
BTW Star and Abby, I'm glad to hear that you're both ok. I was worried last night. Between you guys and my great aunt in Tampa who's in her 90's I said more than a few prayers.

That's really scary. We've had a few tornado watches (I think it's watches and not warnings - it's the one where they've been sighted) out in Bushnell. I've decided that our trailer really is in one of the best places on the property, so that helps settle my mind. We're at the bottom of a hill and barely above water level. The lake comes right into our front yard usually once a year. I really love our new weather radio.

Has there been any news from LLC? I don't even remember where she is in FL

That's good to hear, I just realized that we hadn't heard from her since the storm. She did mention school starting soon and some work she had to do before then.

Well, as safe as I can feel on that property. There aren't really any good solid buildings. The 2 non-trailer buildings are on hills. It's amazing how thin trailers are though. Eric and I joke about someone being able to break into our trailer with a can opener if they had a mind to. That metal is really as thin as or thinner than a pop can! We've got a really sturdy addition on the front though, and like I said, the back is against a hill. Just hopeing that nothing ever does come through that close to find out how good a location it really is...

Yep, I've got to agree with you. I love ours as a weekend getaway place, but to have it be where all my worldly posessions are kept? I don't think I could do it unless it was temporary while we were getting something better built. I've just heard too many stories of them going up in flames and burning to the ground in 7 minutes flat. We've got 3 smoke alarms in our little place just for that reason and the second fire exit is in the kids' room.

Cindy, a watch is when conditions are present, a warning is when one has been sighted. I've lived in Central Illinois all of my life (except for four years in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club) in a portion called Tornado Alley. Do yourself a favor, if you have a warning for your area, get out of that trailer as it won't save you at all. More people die in trailer parks in tornado's than anywhere else. They just aren't built to withstand the forces involved. Get in your vehicle and go to a friend's house that has a basement as soon as you hear about the warning (usually you have about 10 minutes or so with today's technology). DON'T wait around trying to salvage "valuables" as most everything can be replaced except your lives. Lacking the ability to get to a safe, sturdy building, go to the lowest ground in your area, lay face down and hold on for dear life. Just plain get out of that trailer as it is a death trap no matter how sturdy your front area is.

Lowest ground that's not surrounded by trees and power lines that can fall on you. A deep ditch that doesn't flood may be your best option, but nobody wants to lay in the mud and rain waiting for what may not hit. Sounds like there aren't too many really good options right there. Being at the bottom of a hill CAN help, as twisters tend not to follow a steep drop; they generally go over them, IF the trailer is on the north/northeast/east side of the hill. Twisters tend to move in a northeasterly direction.. except when they don't. And they'd tend to drop debris on you area as they go over Best place to be is an underground storm cellar, but most folks can't afford to build one, expecially for a cheap summer place. Best thing about twisters is that they're very narrow focus. If it misses you by a block, you're generally just fine. A lot of prayers go up when they show up. ;)

We just try to comfort ourselves with the thought that those trailers were there long before we owned the property, and they've never gotten picked up. I know that doesn't mean a thing, but somehow it's still comforting when there really isn't any safe place to go on the property.

I usually just go swimming during storms, to get my mind off of things....you know you won't add a minute to your life by worrying, that's what I always say!!
