I set this up yesterday and thought I had done all the settings right in Config but it tells me thta it is an insecure network when I go to connect. I have tried tp get back into the setup by opening web page 192.168.2.1 but it keeps telling me that the page can't be displayed. How do I get bach in as I have pushed reset button to restore factory default but that makes no difference it still won't open as it did on initiall setup. It is a 5port plus wireless router. I tried to set up through my laptop which is running vista but it can't find the router. The original setup was done on my desktop running XP.

when you reset the router, it may have shut off the wireless capability. It's always better to set it up using a wired connection. And when it's all done, you can go wireless.

Since the wireless isn't working correctly, you wont get a response by typing in the ip address of the router...plug it in, then set it up again.

    Go into your command prompt,type
    "ipconfig" ,or "iconfig /all"
If you are getting a address then your connect to your router.
Or even try "pinging" your router or google. If you dont get a reply then theres a configuration issue or connection issue

The router is working and I did set it up wired but my issue is that when I go to connect I get a msg saying that it is an insecure connection. I want to get back into the configuration but can't get in using the IP address that I used when I first set it up ie: 192.168.2.1 I tried the ipconfig/ etc commands and tried opening web pages with the addresses that came up but all told me that the page could not be displayed.

    try using 192.168.0.1
    192.168.0.2
    192.168.2.1
    192.168.1.1
just try differnet combinations and if that dosent work post another thread

None of those worked. I will try to attach the command screens I get when I do the ipconfig. Config 1 is without the modem plugged in and config 2 is with the modem plugged in. pasted them into notepad & saved so hopefully they will be of some use. They don't mean much to me.

:cry I am still having trouble with this though I have managed to get back into access point config by holding in reset for a lot longer than the manual specifies. What I am trying to do is replace the 5port ethernet switch that I had my modem & my networked computers plugged into with a wireless access point that I am trying to setup with all my wired computers & modem plugged in but with the ability to unplug my laptop from the wired network and use it wirelessly when I want to to access the internet and still print to remote printer etc. Is the access point what I need or is there a difference between this and a wireless router.
