Editing My Registry

I am currently editing my registry using RegSupreme. I have scanned and edited roughly 10% of the the 700 plus items listed by RegSupreme as invalid, as I am familiar with those entries and could easily discern which is which. Now I have the majority of my invalid objects with problem codes saying "Useless Empty Key", "Useless File Extension", "Invalid ProgID entry [OLE/DDE]", "Invalid Typelib entry[OLE/DDE]", "Invalid CLSID code [OLE/DDE]" and "does not exist" I think I know what an useless empty key is, but what about the others. What do all of those problem codes mean and why should the items with those problem codes be deleted. Also, I get a lot of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_\Software\Microsoft\VisualBasic\ 4.0\{009541A3-3B81-101C} with the problem code: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IMGADMIN.OCA does not exist. The reason I have not deleted this item along with the others like this one is that I thought Visual Basic was an essential file and function. I also saw virtually the same entry in my registry for Visual Basic 5.0. The only thing remotely close to this is on my computer is Run Basic Visuals 60 or vbrun60sp5.exe. If I could get the meaning of all of this, I can then complete the editing of my registry, although I wish I had a way of copying the scan results of RegSupreme and posting them here. Nevertheless, I would appreciate your assistance. Also I am sure that you know that files and uninstalled applications when deleted or removed aren't really ever deleted or removed and that they are still some place on your drive for possible recovery and so, could you recommend some shareware or freeware that could go beneath the surface of the operating system to scrub and permanantly delete old previously deleted files. I looked in your download section and did not see anything that matched this description. Although I did see software geared towards recovery. Thanks.

    Hi doc :)
I use reg supreme and as you say there are many phrase's that are used in describing the registry keys. In my own experience i have always deleted what the program has found without error despite some keys looking familiar. Always remember to back up what you delete which you are asked to do by default. With reference to a file destroyer eraser is very good and can be found here
