I have mp3 files of radio dramas that have audible pops, clicks, scratches that are really annoying to listen to.

Is there an audio editing program (free if possible) that edits these out?
I have the free version of "wavepad" but it doesn't have a specific plugin to do this.
I've seen the programs used for recording LP's but can they be used to edit exisiting mp3's too?

    Thank

i often use the waves restoration bundle to do exactly this. they are VST plugins which you can use to edit any sound source (including your mp3s) in most any modern audio editor. there is the x-hum, x-click, x-crackle and x-noise...they are not free, but do exactly what their names imply with minimal degradation of your source. i'm not aware of any free solution (the waves bundle costs nearly a grand) there's also the iZotope RX and it runs about 350 dollars.
