Hi My daughter has got this system with mozilla firefox installed, tbh the set up is really weird with an internet, games etc tabs no desktop, how can i change this to something we can use, i.e. internet explorer instead of mozilla firefox, anything we try to download comes up with weird file extensions and open with messages, any help would be eternally grateful

Unfortunately, the Laptop you have been given didn't come with Windows XP like some of them do. Your came with a distrobution of Linux installed on it. That's why it boots in about 15 seconds. To answer some of your questions, Linux does NOT have Internet Explorer and highly recommend that you don't use Internet Explorer on any computer. It has so many security issues and will cause you more problems than you could ever imagine. I highly recommend that you learn to use Mozilla Firefox.

If you unhappy with the setup that you have, you can do one of two things.

1. You could return this laptop to the store you bought it from and get a version from them that includes Windows XP as the OS.

2. You could go to a store and buy Windows XP Home Edition and install it on the laptop and then you would get the look and feel your used to.

The suggestion is to keep it the way it is and let your daughter adapter to it. The is just my personal opinion and the end result it up to you.
