    so i finally got around to finding the bit that sez show hidden folders. ran spybot, spyblaster, and antivir xp, updated them, all came up clean. but.....now i have this 'ghost' icon on my desktop. this is what it sez when i open it. what is it, and can i delete it? aloha.

    and another one appeared with a Kodak symbol. when i clicked on that one it opened to a black screen with the edit/done buttons at the bottom. i deleted that one, but the one above has writing on it

    i just went ahead and deleted it anyway!!

    Temp files prehaps? some apps while you are using them create a temporary file just incase of an accident, then when you close the app until reboot it may lurk around for a bit! one weird one when I first started using XP was the ~ (tilde) that appeared on the desktop.. until after a while I finally located an explanation it was when you update or add someting to the IE address book it created a backup and the ~ was the backups name!
