emachine drivers

    good afternoon people,it is here, I seem to have a problem installing the drivers for an emachine, internet i have burt not sure about the chipset and for sure no audio drivers.

    The machine I am working on is a t2891 model. going to the emachine website doesn't even show this model. I know that they have been taken over by someone but can't find these drivers. any help?

    Hi

    The eMachines motherboard you have is one that was supplied to eMachines from MSI and named the KM4M-V, so the drivers for this motherboard should do fine, I note you have SP3 for XP so you should not need the Microsoft UAA HD audio driver patch.

    So try this as written

    Install the Chipset HERE and reboot, then install the Audio from HERE


    All drivers are HERE for reference.

    tried to install bothe files and reran speccy. as far as i see they are the same. still no sound after reboot

    Try installing the oldest driver available from here..

    http://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp

    You will need to input your OS and what type of driver you want... 1.)Micrsoft Windows, 2.)Windows XP, 3.)Audio, 4.)VIA AC'97.

    Page 4 ......... Version 6.20M

    looking at speccy i think ac97 is already installed

    Hi

    After you try what iain.t posted and just try installing that driver as sometimes older drivers work ok, if that doesnt work then continue below.


    Can you tell us what devices if any in Device Manager have yellow ! marks?

    In Services (found in Control Panel > Administrative Tools or click Start > Run and type services.msc and hit enter) look for the Windows Audio service an double click it to open its properties, then check that its Started and the startup type is Automatic, then click the Dependancies tab and write down the services listed, then check each one of them in Services that their service is Started and Automatic.

    After many trials and tribulations, that almost drove me to quaff a few pints,
    I appreciate the help from both supporters. You both deserve a medal.

    My next post is forthcoming soon. I accept the fact I am not a geek . I am working on it though.
