Hope someone can give some advice. My partner has aEmachine E4026 and I got a virus on it. I rebooted the computer but for some reason the hard drive has been partitioned. The memory on the C and D drive is so small that cannot do anything on the computer because it keeps saying there is not enough memory, and theres nothing on it!! My partner has installed the recovery disc again but it is still the same. Does anyone know how we can get rid of this partition? any advice would be appreciated

If I want to use the restore DVDs on my eMachine, I need to put the DVD in the drive, reboot and press alt+ F10 at startup so the recovery DVD can be started.

I think you have confused two different things here. C and D drives do not have "memory". They have storage space, and a message referring to no space would not use the word "memory". It would say something like "Low free space available on drive D:" and then would say something about uninstalling some programs or running a clean up or something. If you're getting a message that actually uses the word "memory", then it is because the system is running out of operating room, not disk space. If you click Start, click Run, and type sysdm.cpl and press "Enter", you'll get a Window that shows you how much memory (or RAM) is installed in your PC. I have a feeling this number is real low, like 256mb or less. Visit your local independent PC store and tell 'em you need more memory, and you want 1gb (one-gigabyte) of DDR memory. When you get home, unplug the power cord from the PC, open the case, and install the memory chip (you may have to remove the memory currently installed if there is not an open slot next to it). Plug in the power cord and power up. That should get rid of the problem. If buying more memory isn't possible for whatever reason, or doesn't help (but that would be really weird), read this guide to increasing Windows XP performance (I'm assuming you have XP since you didn't mention it). Step 2 in that article is the "not enough memory" fix; you need to increase the size of the virtual memory, but if the system has only 256mb, increasing the virtual memory without increasing the actual memory may not help much. Read through the article completely once or twice first before making any changes just so you're aware of what's going on, and you can ask us any questions before you actually make changes to the system. GOOD LUCK!

Hmmmmm..... I just checked the EMachine web site and they have no info at all on a model E4026, as if it doesn't exist. But I Googled the E4026, and it does indeed use DDR memory (it does NOT use DDR2), so you'd be looking to get 1gb of DDR PC2700 memory, also known as DDR-333.
