eMachine lap top will not shut down

Have an eMachine lap top that will not shut down unless I hold the power button down. All the icons disappear after selecting shut down but the despot background remains and just hangs there. What are the likely causes of this?

have you tryed checking your regestry for errors??

 

Does windows load slow etc?

 

I suspect malware or as foot loose said, some registry issues.

You could download CCleaner and run the registry cleaner, and while you are at it, run the normal clutter cleaner too.
