CZ14B827, what browser are you using?
Is this using Yahoo, free version on the web?

I am using Internet Explorer 8 and i am using both types of yahoo emails, "sbcglobal.net" and the "yahoo.com" because one did not work with the attachments so i tried the other, but it did not work either, so neither is letting me attach files. I sign in through yahoo with my sbcglobal.net account, because this is the only way that i can access it, i talked with a rep from sbc global about signing in and he stated this is the only way to access my sbcglobal.net account.

I have tried everything that i know of to send attachments, but to no success.

    Thanks In Advance

Umm, this is an elemetary question but seems necessary here. Do you actually see the filename when you click on the Attach button? Have you actually navigated to the folder where the file is located?

As i stated in my original post, there is nothing there, no file name, nothing, just the icons of my desktop. Is there anywhere else i should be looking to find this file.

    Thanks

Well, where is the file? Forget email for the moment. If you look at your desktop, is the file there? If not, then where is it? In Documents? In some ohter folder? If you can't see it anywhere, what makes you think it even exists on your computer?

I looked in the desktop folder, i looked in all the icons i cannot find the file at all, i do not know what the issue is, when i type a message and then hit attach files it should show up under the file name, do you have any suggestions on any other places that i might look to find this document ?

Is there anything that i can do to find out if this document exist somewhere.else ?

    Thanks

If you look for a coat in a closet and no coat is in the closet, then you won't find a coat there? This is no different. The file isn't on your Windows desktop, period.

Sure, search for it. Here's how: Tips for finding files.

Have you used the messaging system to inquire what you need to do to send attachments?

I can't troubleshoot because a) I have no trouble attaching things in my yahoo webmail interface account and b) I do not use sbglobal so will not be able to sign in and try sending a message with an attachment.

plodr, the underlying problem here seems to be that the file really does not exist, or he does not know where it is. Apparently, it is not on his Windows desktop, which is where he thought it should be; it simply isn't there.

Yes, but he also said this
He should be getting another window which comes up and gives browse, upload and then the size of the file after it is uploaded.
So he really has two problems: the window where he can select files to attach never shows AND he can't find the file he wants to attach either.

You may be right but I'd like to see clarifcation from CZ14B827 on this point. I don't think we can be absolutely sure on this point; his comments alluding to it are somewhat vague, in my opinion. In fact, he made a statement which indicates he does not have the first problem you've stated. He said,
So, when I tries to attach, he does see what's on the desktop.

This point could easily be verified by a simple test. He could just put a test file on the desktop and see whether he can attach it to an email. Or, he could navigate to a folder known to contain files and select a file as a test.

To Plodr and USAFveteran, this is the step by step process i am doing.

    1. I type the receivers address
    2. I put in the subject
    3. I write the body of the message
    4. I click on attach files
    5. This takes me to another page that says attach files, it says click browse to select a file, there are (5) files then there is a blank space then it has (5) Browse buttons on the other side. (Ex: File 1 ---------------- Browse
    File 2 ---------------- Browse
    File 3 ---------------- Browse
    File 4 ---------------- Browse
    File 5 ---------------- Browse
there are no files listed on this page, just File 1 thru File 5, there is nothing listed in the blank space between File 1-5 and the Browse button.
    6. I click on the Browse Button
    7. Another window opens up and it lists all of my desktop icons plus the icons that says Public, Computer and Network.
    8. At the bottom of the window is a box that says "File Name" the small box next to it is empty, there is nothing in there, the box is a drop down type box, there is nothing in the drop down menu, To the right of this box is another box that says "All Files, it has a drop down menu that says (All Files, Pictures and HTML, directly below this box are (2) boxes one says Open the other one says Cancel.

This is what i am doing, is there anything else i should be doing ? This is the complete procedure.

    Thanks

    Hi

I think what Usafvet and plodr are trying to get you to do first before thinking of the email and great step by step of what you are doing, but in the first instance a few things...

What type of file are you trying to attach, is it a Word doc, PDF or an Image?
Depending on what you are attaching is where these files are saved and do you also know the name of the file?

You have gotten to the rigth area to attach files, but when you click browse is where you then need to browse to the lcoation of the file that you wish to attach, for instance, if I use Word and save a document it may save in My Documents or to a location I want it too, the default is what you set it to, nothing defualts to the desktop unless you have done it and its not a wise thing to do anyway.

So for instance with the Word doc, I save it to My Douments folder (to find where your docs are saving in whatever the application you created this file with open the app upp and click Save As and last location is generally opened) then I open up my email app and will follow your steps and when I get to 5. I click browse and then the box opens up with Desktop as its defualt location, next what I need to do is to click in the left hand panel in shown in the image below and got the location of this file (in my case its Documents) and tick the file (mine is test doc.docx) and then click Open and it will attach.

I did this in Windows Mail on Vista, but once you are at that the Open window it will be soem for online mail attaching just browse to the location of the saved file, you may from your text above need to click Computer then Documents.

So in summary, whats the application you create the to be attached file in and where does it save to as in what folder, can just text with opening up the app and click Open and hopefully it opens to the last known location of your files and thats where you need to direct the browse option in attach to that location by clicking the options as in Computer > Documents etc
