I followed the basic steps to remove the about:blank virus from my computer. It worked successfully and also removed the only best pop up problem as well, however, my computer will not let me login to my email account or follow any links from my email (hotmail). I tried to create a new gmail account, and it wouldn't follow any of the links on the page. If anyone knows what's wrong and could help i would really appreciate it.

What OS are you using, 98SE, ME, XP? Are you updated on everything, and is it just email links you are having trouble with?

    For a start try this,

    Solution 1
Make sure your System Date and Time are correct.

    Solution 2
    Open IE
    Click on Tools
    Internet Options
    On the General Tab
Click Delete Files in the "Temporary Internet Files" section
    Click Delete all Offline Content
    Click ok.

See if that helps. Do you have SP2?

My system time was off by 10 minutes, and i tried clearing the temporary internet files, but to no avail. I was unaware that there was a service pack 2

I would hold off the SP2 until you get more information, from here hopefully, just do a search, alot of helpful info here. you might be missing some files you need to access secure sites. I'm looking, wait for some other posts before you do anything.

Please do not create multiple thread for the same problem. Stay in one thread until the problem is resolved. I deleted you other thread which had no responses in it yet.

Please follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.
