email problems

    Please help I can not delete any messages in my inbox or sent items. Its just like the messages are frozen. You cant read them or anything.

    win 98se
    192mb ram
    1.2 ghz
    tnt pro 64 video card

    I would imagine that OEs .dbx files have become corrupt.


    The only way I know off hand without a bit of research is to delete the .dbx files and restart OE which will create new ones... sadly your emails upto that point will be lost, so I would wait just to see if anyone else has an idea to save your emails ( if thats what you want ) before carrying on to deleting the .dbx files.

    also I cannot remember where the files are located on win98 ( memory not that good ).


    to find the folder where the .dbx files are located ( these are the files that hold the email data ) use "search" and type inbox.dbx

    Subject: random words

    Message body: several different mail error messages, such as: Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available

    Attachment (with a textfile icon): random name ending with ZIP, BAT, CMD, EXE, PIF or SCR extension

    When a user clicks on the attachment, the worm will start Notepad, filled with random characters
