Emails stuck in Outlook outbox

Hi Guys, I’m having problems with Outlook installed recently as part of Office 2010 professional.

Sometimes (more often than not) when replying to an email the reply gets stuck in the out box. If I create a new email form and copy the contents of the stuck one the copy will go out without a problem – at least most times.

Sometime even fresh emails (not replies) get stuck as well.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

It is most annoying not to be able to reply confidently to recieved emails thus preserving the history of the exchange

I am using Outlook with exchange server with Windows 7

If this is a work email issue, you really need to be talking to your IT person that handles this stuff. If it is your home lab, there is a lot of good info over at slipstick.com, which can help you with this.

    Thanks brownizs.

    I am the IT person!!!

Well to be more precise my business is a two man and one woman outfit - we can't afford a dedicated IT professional.

In most areas I have enough knowledge to get through and believe me I have done research on this - Major Geeks is always my final call for help when all else fails.

I will take a look at slipstick - but I was hoping someone on this forum would have had first hand experience of this. Major Geeks has never let me down in the past.

I have already run a repair on Office 10 but the problem persists.

Every person's issue is different when it comes to their setup, and there is a lot of good info over at slipstick.com and at microsoft.com.

Without knowing the specifics of your setup, the exact error message you are getting, who you are using for email (ie yahoo, gmail, etc.), this is something that needs more info.

Most times if email is stuck at the client end and exchange is not communicating with said client or computer, you could get mail just sitting there.

All I can say, is go through some of these hits and see if anything they suggest will fix the issue (at work, not able to access much to help further, until back home later). http://search.yahoo.com/search?ei=UTF-8&fr=crmas&p=email+stuck+in+outbox,+when+connected+to+exchange

This problem remains unsolved - but I have noticed something strange.

Sometimes when, say creating a new email and pressing send, it arrives in the out box with the "Sending Message Icon." In this case it will go off OK when pressing send and receive.

However, sometimes it arrives in the out box with the "Draft Icon" in which case it will never go out.

If I open the email and copy every part of it into a new email form it will then arrive at the out box with the "Sending Message Icon" and everything works OK. - But the original with the "Draft Icon" is still stuck in the out box.

I can't find a way to change the "Draft Icon" to a "Sending Message Icon" in the out box and I cant find out why Outlook sometimes saves the email to the out box with a "Draft Icon."

I thought this information might be a clue to someone who would have the answer to this annoying "feature" of my installation of Outlook. Presently about 75% of my emails have to be opened from the our box and copied in order to send them.

One other point, An email in the out box with a "Sending Message Icon" if highlighted by clicking it will immediately change to "Draft Icon" and then will not be sent.

Outlook icons can be seen here: http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/icons.htm

As this is very frustrating and time wasting is there any way to repair or reinstall Outlook. I have run the repair function from the original Office 2012 installation disk but that did not solve the problem.

Doubt it is a Outlook problem. You need to be looking at the person's profile in Exchange. You can do a PST repair, but I doubt that is going to resolve this issue on the person's machine.

I don't understand how this could be a profile problem, brownizs - can you explain.

    Here's some more information.

This problem does not occur when running Outlook in SAFE mode.

Furthermore, any emails that are stuck when running normally can be opened in safe mode and then "sent" They go out without a problem. I can't do that in normal mode.

Perhaps I should work in Safe mode all the time.

This appears to be a well known problem but there is not a well known solution. Someone somewhere must have an answer that works!
