eMule++ breaks GNU-GPL

I have found a program here somewhere in the software archives ( http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4302.html )

This program looks to me a LOT like eMulePlus ( http://www.emuleplus.info/ ) To my knowledge it even is the same program.

If the programs are the same eMule++ is breaking the GNU-GPL licence.

eMulePlus is an opensource program spread under the gnu-gpl licence, the licence means in short that any derived work/program from the emuleplus code should also be spread opensource, this means that the sourcecode should be available just as well, besides that the credits to the original authors should remain together with the program. emule++ fails to do both.

As for me, I have been using emuleplus for over a year now, followed the development etc. I found emule++ and I was kind of surprised to what I found it to be, everything besides the credits, the ID code on the network and the name are the same as eMuleplus.

To my knowledge, this program has now been found mostly useless, the original emule client has banned the emule++ client, thus it can not download from any emule anymore. Since the edonkey2000 network the emule++ client works on consists for 90% of emule clients it renders emule++ useless.

I'm not talking about emuleplus vs. emule but i'm talking about emuleplus vs emule++ I am well aware of the status between emule and emuleplus.

This new emule++ is NOT opensource, which is one of the demands of the licence emuleplus and emule are spread by, in other words, the program should be opensource but it isn't.

emule++ is not an offshoot, it is emuleplus with different icons for the main toolbar, nothing more, nothing less.

Compare emuleplus and emule++ looking at the links I gave, than make a new judgement please.

Why dont you contact them and see what they say.

 

Because they actually just host the file, just like this website.
And because they already contacted the emule team asking for clarity about it. If you register at the emule forum and read the post there, you can see proof of that.
