Hi, a few months ago I disabled my network card on the basis that my computer's not connected to a network and it was using resources unneccessarily. I've now bought an ADSL firewall router and i need to enable it again. However, when I run the windows hardware wizard I get code 12:This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use.

I've not installed any further hardware since then, what can I disable to free up the necessary resources?

I'm running win2k professional SP4. The network card is a Novell Anthem NE2000 compatible.

    Thanks

    Rach

easiest way to free up resources is using the "msconfig" command in the run box.

should bring up a small window, from there u can click on the startup tab and remove some of the programs that are running in the background.

NIC only uses somethin like 1% of yr system resources though so this might not be the problem.

If u only dissabled your card do u mean through the hardware profiles list?
You shouldnt have to run a hardware wizard if it has been done that way as it should just be a case of going:

    right click my computer>properties>hardware>hardware profiles>NIC card>properties>enable.

Thats the process using XP but yr O/S should be something similar.

    Does that help?
