encryption file questions

Is it possible to encrypt files and still be able to use them such as mp3's?

I basically want to encrypt media files i have but still be able to use them, what i want is for them not to be able to be copied

Can someone direct me or explain to me how this can be done?

 

You just answered your own question. Let me put it this way. If you encrypt a mp3, why would you, and how do you plan to decrypt it, in a device that does not have the capabilities to do so.

 

Except this is me and my friends own personal music which we make ourselves we plan on selling it but we do not want people to copy our work.

This is why i asked if its possible to encrypt a file and still be able to use it ( as in play it) if its stored in another device such as a memory stick, cd, etc..

Or perhaps i am asking the wrong question? What i want is for my files not be copied for reasons stated in the first sentence. Maybe there is a software which disables files from being copied but not necessarily encrypted

 

Sell it through iTunes, like everyone else has, or Amazon.com. Not too many people sell physical cd's anymore. Those that still do, do it because there is still a small minority that does not want to move to digital media, either with portable digital music players, or on a computer network.
