Encryption problem

I an Orange livebox and the missus has turned off the encryption i have the network key but i don't know which encryption to turn on :S

She did on Vista

The length & strength of the key can tell the encryption type. How many characters? Are there special characters outside of the 26 English letters?

You can try in this order:

WEP
WPA
WPA/WPA2
WPA2(PSK)

Def. it won't be a Radius/Enterprise. Or you can look for clues in:

Control Panel
Network Connections
Wireless Network Connection X
Properties
Wireless Network
Preferred networks
Highlight the correct network, Properties
Wireless Network key

Hi

I take it you can access the routers menus settings?

Oranges Live Boxes use both WEP and WPA, turn on WEP as its more secure than WEP, from the routers security menu.
