encryption program for outlook express

I need to send somewhat sensitive information via email. Can anyone recommend an encryption program (preferably free) that is fairly easy to use, for windows 98se and or related information

Try mozzilas thunderbird (its free.) http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/. Also you might want to get a firewall if your doing somewhat "sensitive" things on your computer. I suggest Sygate personal firewall. It free and really easy to use. You can see what's using your internet connection. http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm

An other question has popped up and I think I know the answer but...

Does the recipient of an encoded message need to be running the same encryption software; in the case of Thunderbird would they need to be running Thunderbird... or a plug-in etc.?

Try PGP, web site www.pgp.com It is free even if it is a quite large download at 8 Megs but very good
