End It All

I used to have this program called "End It All" and it used to be free to download. Now it is on PC Magazines website and it is still free (supposedly), but you have to pay $19.95 to get a subscription to download (what happened to free?)

Anyway it shut down all the processes running in the background (for defragging, scandisk and installing new programs). Does anybody know where I can actually get this free or a similiar program?

Btw. you should be aware that there are two versions of EndItAll ver.1 (392 Kb) and ver.2(734 kb). Not sure which is better.

While searching for EndItAll then I found several forums saying that they were using Ver.1 and Ver.2 with WinXP. But I haven't been testing myself.

 

I tried a version of EndItAll several months ago now - can't remember which version but needed it to test a few graphics device drivers. I uninstalled it since I kept getting BSODs and forced to reboot - maybe a later version will work now.

 

I needed this for somebody who had windows 98. I have XP Pro and use Vopt XP for defrag. It has an option to end all running programs or reboot and it defrags ahead of anything else starting until it is done. But it doesn't work in 98 or 98SE.

Alternate to end it all

I use Stopit also FaberToys will do similar. Search for them on net. Both freebies
