Last time I used my XP Partition it was perfectly fine and I had no problems with it. However, I wanted to boot it yesterday and it wouldn't start up. When it gets to the XP load screen with the green bar it just keeps loading until you shut down your computer.

I tried starting with last known good config without success and the different safe-modes gave me no reprieve.

My computer has a habbit of "healing itself" so I left it for a day but it's still not working.

Note: When starting in safe mode it asks if I want to cancel on SPTD and if I don't cancel it doesn't load any more files or show that it's loaded STPD.sys - I'm guessing this file is the problem.

    Hmm.... it's working now.

However, there's no shortcuts on my desktop and when I go Start > All Programs, there are no shortcuts for programs like my games and whatnot.

I tried to repair it using the Windows XP Disc but I don't know the command to use.

    Are you talking about:
    Start
    Run
    sfc scannow
    ????

Or are you trying to do a repair from boot up? confused

Okay, it's fixed - thank you.

    Just hope it doesn't return.
