Enter BIOS on a IBM thinkpad 380z

    I am trying to transfer data from my old computer to a different one using "Transfer your pc". It says it has to be in ECP mode which it is not. It is an old computer that I have no book/papers on and I don`t know how to enter BIOS setup at start up. I have tried f1, f2, ect. but doesnt seem to work. Please tell me what to push and when. Thanks. ps-I am running win 98 se, 64 ram , Pen2 333 mhz.

    Some possibles.........

    IBM ThinkPad using IBM BIOS (Early Models): Press CTRL-ALT-INS when cursor is in upper-right corner of screen

    ThinkPad using IBM BIOS (Later Models): Press and hold F1 key while powering-up laptop

    ThinkPad using Phoenix BIOS: Press CTRL-ALT-F11 from DOS prompt

    When I do CTRL-ALT-INS I get the Win setup screen that has 5 options1. Normal, 2. Safe, etc, this is not the BIOS screen correct? Any other ideas. Thanks for helping an illerate.

    Can't believe it doesn't instruct you when it first powers up .... but could try hitting delete key.

    Agreed! That's quite peculiar! It should say the button to press on the VERY first screen after powering up. It may not say BIOS, but something like setup, or options, and USUALLY (I'd say 100% of computers I've seen, but I haven't seen 100% of all computers ;) ) tells you the button...
