eprompter causing problems?

My Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop has been working well for over a year until a month ago when emails will not download---the message title appears but the message is forever downloading---and

coincidentally I have started getting a message at startup saying 'eprompter failed to open and will close' and gives the option to send or not send the message to MS---

I gave this laptop to my ISP guys to fool around and they couldn't figure it out--

I switched to Mozilla Thunderbird and it was ok for awhile and now it's doing the same thing--not being able to finish downloading email messages---might it be a virus or can I just delete or uninstall 'emprompter'???

I read somewhere where using AVG anti-virus 7.5 (I do) wrecks havoc with emprompter so I'm thinking maybe getting rid of it might help??

    Opinions appreciated!

You could...it could also be your anti virus. Using Norton perchance?

No, I'm using AVG and that may be why emprompter is messing up my emails?

I like the AVG and am thinking maybe just get rid of emprompter but it's not on the list of programs in the control panel so how to uninstall it??

The onyl way eprompter can be messing it up if it is intercepting mail first, before your email client does.

I've never used it, does it do that?

the directions provided by the eprompter site don't work as when I went to delete the files (I searched 'eprompter') some files were deleted but most were not with the message 'cannot delete source files' or something close to that---

    what to do?

They won't delete if they are active ...check processes in taskmanager ...kill them then try to delete ...of use MoveOnBoot
