I am interested has anyone pulled a cartridge apart to see how much ink is left after the chip has said to replace the cartridge??

I've never felt the need to pull a cartridge apart.

My HP printers continue to print, despite the light being on telling me to replace a cartridge. I use them for months with the replace cartridge light on. When I finally see in my printouts, there is a problem then I decide, not the HP corporation, to replace the cartridge.

I suspect some of the newer printers are programmed to stop printing when the date is expired or an arbitrary print number, decided by the manufacturer, has been reached. Fortunately we have five working printers in the house. Three of them are pretty old and continue to work, perhaps better than the two newer models, so I'll keep using them until they die.
