Ok, i know my printer is installed properly and everything and so are the catridges, and the drivers are installed from the cd.
BUT!!! When it comes to print, the text is very blurry and the colour is nothing like it should be when it prints out!!!! I've tried all the fixing tweaks in printer setup but nothing seems to do the job. The Epson status monitor tool says that the colour ink is full and the black ink half full, so it can't be the catridge. I've had this problem for a while now, and the same happens on my other computer but not quite as bad. I've printer test pages and they're fine, like the 3 blocks of solid colour, but this is really not right! Can anyone help me at all??!!!!

it could be the print heads are dirty or damaged ... you might try and look to see if there is any obvious dirt on the print heads and try cleaning it carefully with a paper towel and some window cleaner or using the printers cleaning routine

do you use this printer often? cause ink is known to dry out ... the firmware might be corrupt somehow but im tending to doubt that

i use the printer every few days and the cartridges are brand new. i've only had the printer since about march this year so it should be ok. and as it's happening with both my printers, not as much the other one, it's quite strange...

the only other thing i could sueggest that you may have old drivers, cause you said you installed them from the CD

try the ones on epsons website ... also there might be a driver conflict since you have two printers connected

I take it that you get the same printing results from either computer that it is connected to. does your test page just show the color ink as okay but not the black, or are both of them printing out okay (no lines or faint areas or gaps) Are the cartridges genuine epson or compatible type purchased from reputable source. Hope you have not refilled them from a refill kit. These can really cause problems. I have sometimes had to run the head cleaning utility on my epson several times in order to start getting good printing results again. Noticed that you do printing every couple of days or so. When not using the printer you need to be turning it off with the printer's power switch so that the nozzles do not remain open causing them to clog easily. I use nothing but "compatible" cartridges from " I think" reputable suppliers and the only noticeable difference I have found is the frequency with which I have to clean the heads, but the savings in money is well worth it.
You might want to contact epson if a thorough cleaning doesn't solve the problem, I have always found them very helpful.

ok, yes the print test pages come out perfectly with no faint areas at all. i leave the printer off whenever it's not being used. however the one on my other computer doesnt seem to be as bad as this one, still not perfect though. i will try using the drivers from the epson website.
