Epson Stylus NX415 very slow in responding

I'm having nearly the same problem - the NX415 takes 2-4 minutes to print a document and Word keeps saying the printer hasn't responded. It prints a test page - in 1-2 minutes fine. I've reloaded software, changed print cable and tried everything. Many times it locks up the software being used as well, Office 2003, Corel WordPerfect etc.

Any hope? When I first got it there seemed to be no problems.

Also in digging around my HP software came up with a "Function Discover Print Provider DII is not responding" if that is any help. I've used other printers on the same computer with great results and no problems. (Computer is an HP running Windows 7 Home Premium with plenty of speed, GB of RAM etc.)

Did you use the CD that came with the printer to do the software/driver install?

If so, it might be worth a try to remove the printer from the "Printers & Devices" menu, uninstall all the Epson software (bloatware) and do a clean download of the latest drivers only (not the added bloatware) from epson.com.

I've run into similar issues with some HP all-in-ones. A bare-bones install of the latest drivers helped in these cases.

Also, download the free version of Advanced System Care 4.0 Free - it does a good job of scanning and fixing any registry issues that may be slowing things down.

    Hope this helps. :)

I've reloaded the driver from the Epson site several times, hoping as was suggested that was the solution. I did it again last night. No difference.

When I go into the Advanced Tap it is already set at WinPrint and RAW, and being a novice I'm not going to change to any of the other choices as they didn't look promising.

It seems that the printer isn't being seen by the software correctly. One message I saw in trying to get it to work was "Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable" Does that mean anything relative to the software (Microsoft Word 2003) not seeing the printer?
