For an equalizer, which setting control the bass and which one controls the treble? I've been playing with the settings for weeks but can't get the sound I want. If you can help, that would be great. Thanks.j

I usually use the EQ as set up in your thumbnail, the "V" shape. Some adjustment need to be made when listening to different kinds of music. Basically it's boils down one's preference really. Why you have not managed to set it to your liking, "for weeks" is surprising.....

The bass/low frequency is adjusted from the knobs starting from the left-moving to the middle you have the mids and further right the highs /treble. Thats pretty obvious. :confused

As posted above, the bass is on the left, mids in the middle, and highs on the right. I also agree that the basic V shape should get you in the right area.

What speakers are you using? That can make a huge difference.

Fred makes a valid point regarding speakers. Using speakers (read El Cheapo) incapable handling the frequencies Lows/highs creates a problem.
Classic example--- throw away the Ipod ear phones and try out Creative's EP 630. Suddenly you feel you belong in an audiophile forum.....well almost!! They cost less than 20$. Seriously the Pod becomes a beast.

Ok, I should've mentioned that I'm watching movies and tv episodes that I have in my computer and ext hdds. I'm not listening to music. I'm using 2 desktop speakers and after all the parts that I had to replace to get this pc working right, I'm not ready to buy new speakers. I'm not looking for the perfection that headphones give either.

Many times, the music or background noise is so loud that I can't hear what the people are saying. Depending upon the movie or tv episode that I'm watching, the settings that I have above do the trick, but sometimes I want to raise/lower the base a bit and other times raise/lower the treble a bit, but I didn't know which slide bars were for bass and which were for treble, so I asked. I didn't think this would be surprising as most people don't know what each slide bar will do and I didn't like the jibe, sikvik. I really dislike that kind of "holier than thou" response/attitude when someone asks for help. It stops many people from asking questions if they think they're going to be put down. The shape that I came up with was by trial and error, but it is NOT obvious what each slider control will do. Nobody speaks in Hz.

    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks Fred . . . Denise
