    I'm running Windows 98 on an E-Machine. I've got Spybot and Ad-Aware installed and all the 98 updates. I get lots of pop-ups and an error message that often "kicks off" the desktop into a recovery mode where I have to restore the active desktop.

    I tried to install Spyblaster today via majorgeeks. Just before it was completely installed, I got Error Message 1157, which said:

    cannot find input; DLL may be missing ...
    File "MSVBVM60.DLL", error 1157

    Can anyone help?

    Hi Jujet 84!

    Thanks for the great tip. I could load Spyblaster after I followed your instructions. But I still get popups and, at the most inopportune times, I get an error messge "invald page fault in module OLE 32.DLL at 017f:7ff7df6d" I tried following the Microsoft suggestion of renaming the offitmes.log and the outitems.log files, but first I had to find them. I couldn't. They don't seem to be there! Do you have any suggestions for the problem? When I get the error message, I close the window and the computer goes into the "active desktop recovery" mode, where I lose the taskbar icons; and the error message may appear yet again!

    thanks for any help!

    Page Default
    Try adding this line to your SYSTEM.INI file in the [386Enh] section:
    Increases default stack pages from 2 to 6
    MinSPs=6
    If required, increase by increments of 2 until you find a value that solves the problem

    Hey, thanks! I have Popup Blocker installed, but I'll try this other one. But I still get the "invalid page fault in module OLE 32.DLL" error message. Alas!

    :(

    Appreciate, Jujet, but I don't know the way to do this. Can you give me instructions step by step on how to do revise the system.ini file? I don't even know how to get at it!

    Best,

    Man your sure digging up the past :) follow the directions
    1# Edit the system.ini file by clicking Start / Run and typing sysedit and press enter.
    2# Open the system.ini Window.
    3# Locate the [386Enh] section in the system.ini.
    4# Below the [386Enh] add the following line:

    MinSPs=4
    # Once successfully added Click File and Exit. When asked to save click Yes

    Hi, Jujet,

    Increased the default stack pages to 6 and got the following:

    "Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:004e7f58"

    I close the window and, as usual, the desktop kicks into Active Desktop Recovery, deleting all the taskbar icons. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I'm assuming that I can't go above 6 with the page default increase.

    Hey, Jujet:

    At default=8, I got "Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:004e7f58"

    At default 10, I got something similar.

    At default 12 (the upper limit, I guess), I just got "Explorer caused an invalid page fault at 0000:004daf7a"

    So, now I'm stumped. Even with Pop Up Manager I'm getting a pop up called Computer Registry Cleaner, and I wonder if this has something to do with the problem. Any additional suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Best,

    Dave
