    When I go to install or uninstall a program. I get the error "Error 1606. Could not access network location ::\Documents and settings\All Users\Desktop."

    I have just upgraded my computer from ME to XP. I have researched online for this problem but it says that this happens and to go into the regestry and find a certain file. But I dont have that file on my regestry. HELP!

    Give this a go:

    1. Startup > Execute... > regedit ---> Accept

    2. In the Registry go to:
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

    3. Common Administrative Tools must have the value: C:\WINDOWS\All Users

    4. In the Registry go to:
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

    5. Common Administrative Tools must have the value: %SYSTEMROOT%\All Users your access to the All users folder

    Reboot the machine and see if you can install. If you can't then change what you did in step 5 to be "C:\Documents and Settings"

    Let me know if it does the trick.
