Error 2

Hi all.
What is this thing with windows firewall?
So many people have the same problem, can't start the ics blah blah.
I have tried the resetting of the 'winsock' or something like that and restarting my comp. It works for a few minutes then the baloon pops up again telling me it's not on.
I have tried turning the ics on manualy in services but that tells me
'Error 2 the system cannot find the file specified'
Anyone know what goes on?
I know there are free firewalls but I have tried zonealarm and my system didn't like it, I then tried another and that threw up more stuff than a flatulant cow!!
XP firewall seemed to do the job, when it worked!!

H yeah, one other thing, I have used the enable/disable xp firewall util from this site and when i try to run that it says 'There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper'
