Error 339

I installed software on a computer here at work and received the following error.

Run_Time Error 339:
component COMDLG32.OCX or one of its dependencess not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Any suggestions on how I could possiblly fix this? I have reinstalled the software on top of itself and I also deleted and reinstalled countless times. I searched the net and that is here I had the idea to reinstall.

 

when you installed it, did you install it while logged in with administrative privileges?

 

Yes, I was logged on as admin. The user is also a local admin. I also made him power user while installed as local admin just to see if that would work because we are having some problems with Active Directory settings. Wanted to see if that was a factor

 

have you tried to manually register COMDLG32.OCX ?

find the file and copy down the location. Then go to start.. run. type

regsvr32.exe [location]\COMDLG32.OCX

where [location]= the complete path to the file with no [] for example

regsvr32.exe c:\windows\system\comdlg32.ocx (this is not the real location, it's just an example of what it might look like )

 

The darn file just isn't on the computer at all. I looked for it with no success.

 

I found this site. I will try this out and see if it works.

 

okay i downloaded the file, and pasted it in the following path

c:\windows\system32

then i went to run and did as you said and typed

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx

if you leave out the c: it will not work

then you should get the file register succesfully.
