    Hello,

This morning i reset my pc and upon loading i had a error msg saying Ati Driver Not installed control panel will nwo exit.

in Device Manager i now get the following error:

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)

    I have Tried the following

Uninstalled the ati drivers and install the latest Driver and Cat
Installed an older version of the drivers and cat
and also tried to install the last set that worked
Removed the card and re insert it

however i still cant seem to get the card to work

I starting to wonder if the mobo or card itself is damaged??

    PC Specs:

    epox 8RDA3+ Nforce 2 mobo
    Antec True 380 pwr supp
    Amd Athlon Barton core 2800+
    1 gb Ram
    Ati Radeo 9600pro
    Win XPpro sp2
water cooled: vid card cpu and northbridge

this is an Audio Production workstation
so it had the following cards

    Power Core Elements
    Rme HDSP 9652

the powercore card also had a similar issue today which has nwo been resolved.

If anyone has any idea how to fix this it would be greatly apreciated

    Cheers

Try removing the powercore card to see if it's a hardware conflict.

    ok I just tried that

Didnt work, so I uninstalled the ati software and drivers restart and then reinstall it all with the powercore out of the system still no luck :( same xp error code.

    The exact ATI error msg:

The ATI control panel failed to initialize because no ati driver is installed, or ati driver is not working properly. The Ati control panel will now exit.

    and the device manager error:
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device (code41)
    thats after a fresh install

also, ATI's control panel requires .NET 1.1 so make sure you have that too.

    same error and dev manager

    and control center
The ATI control panel failed to initialize because no ati driver is installed, or ati driver is not working properly Please install the ati driver apropiate for your ati hardware

would removing the upper and lower reg fields do anything ?

I know when you get error code 41 on cd dvd drive removing them usually fixes the issue

if so what are the upper and lower fields?

Upper and lower filters are entries used by burning software.

You could try deleting them, although I doubt it will help. (Windows will recreate new copies when you reboot, however create a Restore Point first)

The following is from Micro$$oft in relation to Error Code 41,

Recommended resolution for Error Code 41

"A driver was loaded but Windows cannot find the device. This error occurs when Windows does not detect a non-Plug and Play device.

If the device was removed, uninstall the driver, install the device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver. If the hardware was not removed, obtain a new or updated driver for the device.

If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, a newer version of the driver might be needed. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Performance and Maintenance on Control Panel, click System, and on the Hardware tab, click Add Hardware Wizard.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. "

(I know it's not very helpful)

BTW NumbChuck, we have both Driver Cleaner and ATI Catalyst Drivers available here in the downloads section, so always link here first.
