I reinstalled Windows XP and now everytime I try to play a song with Windows Media Player, I get the following error popup -

    "There is no sound card
You either do not have a sound card installed on your computer or it is not functioning properly. If you do not have a sound card installed, you must install one before you can listen to audio in a digital media file. If you do have a sound card installed, refer to its documentation to troubleshoot the problem.

    Error ID = 0x80040256, Remedy ID = 0x00000000"

Can anyone suggest anything. please?! I've tried everything I can think of AND been online all day trying to find a solution. PLEASE HELP ME!!! :(

    Firstly WELCOME TO MAJOR GEEKS!!!

Someone should put this thread in software section.

Now,mickeyblueeyes you must post some additional information about your computer(is it desktop or laptop, brand, configuration),and you can do with Everest:http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181

I think this is a driver problem,so you have install it again.

    But we need more info.
