This is all that comes up when I bott past the BIOS.

I have a BYO machine that is using SATA drives that are configured for RAID 2+0. I am getting "error loading operating system" when it gets past the BIOS part of the bootup. I am running Windows XP Pro and even when I go into the Repair COnsole, it shows the drive with windows on it as drive letter I:\ What is up with that? I have never used SATA drives on a RAID 2+0 setting before. What happened is that it was working fine and then everything froze and I had to reboot. When I did, I got the error listed above. I tried to do the "repair" that allows you to reinstall Windows XP but it isn't coming up as one of the choices. It rarely does. But I can do that Repair Console, but no one can figure out the Administrator password.

What does the array say when you check it? As in what does the bios for your raid controller say? Healthy/Good?

Also, when you do a repair install on a raid, you MUST press F6 to load the raid drivers.

The administrator password may be blank, by default, unless the installer set the password to something. As in press enter.

    One last note #123:

What raid add-on card are ye using?

    Since most consumer/home motherboards only support 0,1,5, jbod, 0+1, 1+0 (10).

Ack! I edited my post during your reply. Please check my previous post again. :)

    Side note #124:
Interesting, I could edit my post after someone already posted, with me replying and editing this post to.

Also, I do go to F6 and load the drivers, and the password isn't blank, unfortunately.

Do you have any multi-card readers (sd, mini sd, etc), zip drives, firewire, etc (besides cd/dvd drives) hooked up to this computer?

No... The CD drives are on the Priamry IDE, the SATA drives are reading as drive I:\ and it keeps telling me it can't see a previous version of Windows but I can see it if I go into Repair. I just can't get the Administrator password.

One last thing, are ye sure this is 2+0 raid, and not 1+0 raid? If raid 2+0, what motherboard or pci raid controller are ye using?

Yes. It is RADI 2+0. It is a Chaintech 7NJS Motherboard so it is an oboard RAID controller.

I ahve to take the wife to dinner. I will check for any responses. I ahev a feeling I am going to ahve to slave the RAID drives and load a new OS.

Well, then, I'm not really familiar with this setup.

Not sure if I can help on this one. Without, using a 3rd party tool that costs money.

I don't believe, but maybe it can, one can try:

OK. I have installed a 160GB hard drive and loaded WIndows XP Pro. Now I have an operating system...In Disk Manager I can see the RAID drive. (It is two 36GB HDD on RAID 2+0 showing 72GB striped and Functional). But I cannot do anything. It shows them, but no drive letter and I cannot pick one. The ONLY choices it gives me are to change to "Dynamic" or delete partition. But it is showing that out of 72GB only 44GB available. So it shows data must be on there. If I could only get to it...........
