Error loading ropujyjs.dll in Vista

On this past Sunday, I attempted to open up Adobe Photoshop CS3 on my Sony Vaio Laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I received some error message about a missing file or something. I then attempted to open up Illustrator and received the same error. Windows suggested that I run a chkdsk at the next system restart in order to determine whether there was a problem with the hard disk.

So I chose to restart the computer and chkdsk ran. Windows loaded back up fine, I got to the login screen, logged in to my name, and then received an error message saying "Error loading C:\Windows\system32\ropujyjs.dll - The specified module could not be found."

I just clicked OK and went about my business. But the computer seemed to be running extremely slow. I managed to get the task manager to open up and noticed that whenever I would start up a program (Firefox, for example), the program.exe would start up in Processes in Task Manager, but nothing would happen. I was able to get internet explorer open, but it just opened up and sat there.

I tried restarting the computer and letting it sit overnight, but when I woke up in the morning it was still saying "Shutting down..." It had been there all night.

I've researched everything about this "ropujyjs.dll" and can find nothing on the internet about it. If I just need to put that file on a flash drive or something, then that seems simple enough. I do not have a Windows backup disk or else I would have run CHKDSK /R already.

I have attached a picture of the error message. Any and all help is much appreciated. I really need to get my laptop back up and running again or else I'll be here at the University library a lot more often.:cry

I am unable to perform the steps in that link, because I really can't open up anything on the computer. It just sits there when I click on something. Whether I'm in safe mode or normal mode, it just runs slow and accomplishes nothing

    Hi

Judging by the name of the file and its location, its indeed malware related and by the sounds of it you have multiple ones and likely some nasty one, sadly the only way to get rid of malware is to run through that guide of ours in either normal or safe modes, I know it may take a while, but if you can get some scans done and logs, then our malware experts can remove some malware and it may help speedup slowly your PC to a point in which more scans can be done.

Some things you could try yourself to get you to a point in which you could be able to run some scans is to hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and then look down the list of Processes and End Task ones you dont know what they are (can use the library computer to search for these processes here or here for if they are known good or bad), just to see if your PC speeds up to a point you can run scans.

Failing that likelyhood is a complete format and re-install of Windows or Makers Restore option, after you have backed up if possible all your important files, docs etc.
