Error message & software failure

Hey! My name is Bob and I am an old guy trying to become more educated in matters pertaining to puters and at the moment I am having a problem. If anyone replies to this plea for help please use english as computerise is still very new to me. I have downloaded the free windows registry cleaner and am having a problem. When I click on the button to start the regscan it starts immediately but part way thru it stops and gives me the following error message: Access violation at address 004097E7 in module "Repair.exe". Read of address 00B01760. I do not have a clue about what this means or how to fix it. Also, if I continue with the scan I am unable to "fix" any errors located as after hitting the fix button my computer locks up to the point that nothing works. All attempts to get the computer to reboot, or cancel the program, or do anything is futile and I have to shut off the power to proceed even though I know that this is not a recommended procedure. PLEASE HELP!

What registry cleaner did you download??? Just wondering because some "free" registry cleaners just scan your computer and then ask you to pay to "fix" the problems.

But anyway....
Try re-installing it first and run a scan again.

This stuff won't give you many problems..lol

Yeah- I was wondering about the reg cleaner too... some good free ones available here at Major Geeks are: Wise Reg Cleaner, Advanced Window Care, and CCleaner.... check 'em out!!!
