I have been trying to go to a site that I use regularly (King.com) and keep getting the following error message when I type in the url or click on any link to the site. I know that it is loading fine for others, but both my desktop pc and my daughter's laptop aren't able to connect to this site. Below you will see the message.
    Any help appreciated. Bill

Are both computers running through a router? Have you tried directly connecting to the modem? Does that make a difference?

For others viewing this thread, the site is king.com.

We have wi-fi, so does that mean it is a router? I don't know the difference. Sorry

A router will be connected to the modem. Two separate devices. What do you have?

Not necessarily, some ISPs furnish modems with router capabilities.

Go to your add/remove list and tell me what version of Java you have installed.

Have you tried closing all your browsers and applications, cleaning/deleting all your cookies, temp files, and history and rebooting?

Have to agree with TimW that it appears to be a Java issue on your end. I just opened the link that he provided and it worked fine! :)

Another question: Have you tried using a different browser? Since it is happening with both computers, I wonder if the site is blocked by your ISP.

Novice and Tim ....again, ty for trying to help me with this matter. I have tried using IE and FireFox as browsers and receive the same message with both browsers. I have tried deleting all cookies, temp. internet files, etc. I have deleted all Java and reloaded. I have swore at the computer and/or called it beautiful and it still won't let me in. Any other ideas?

The only thing I could find seems to refer to a server issue:

If this is the case, wouldn't others be affected as well? In any case, I have run registry cleaners, malware removal tools, disk defrags, antivirus scans and nothing has helped to fix this situation. I have been going to various sites reading up on the 500 Servlet Exception and I have not found anything like what I am experiencing. I sent Java support a message on Thursday 7/7 about the issue and will pass along what I find out. Thank you both TimW and Novice for your time invested. I'm sure you're getting frustrated with me/this too.:confused

If one of the computers is portable, take it to a hotspot and see if the website comes up. If it does, then it is a problem with your ISP. You can change the DNS in the router to use another server and bypass what your ISP is offering up as the webpage. Or simply contact your ISP, tell them you can connect when not at home but can't connect at home. They need to fix it.
