error message

    I have had this popup a few times.

    display driver stopped responding and Has Recovered

    Any ideas what might be the cause of it?

    Hi WW

    Taking it this is your Vista PC?

    What graphic card do you have installed? Think my first thought is update your graphic drivers.

    Also pop into Event Viewer > Windows Logs and see in either Application or System logs if there is an error warning that co-insides with this error, if so what is the faulting Event ID and any file name and location it mentions?

    Hi Halo thanks for the reply.
    Yes this is the vista PC i should of stared that.

    Event viewer says
    GeForce 7100 GS.

    Hi WW

    Is Vista at SP1?

    How long has this been happening, is it recient and if so what new software or hardware have you installed if any?

    Or any specific application, game that sets this off?

    Personally I would go with trying the latest Nvidia driver to see if that fixes this, and remembering this error, its hit and miss to a fix as some folk updated their GFX driver some downgraded to last known good one, but all mention dont install the ones offered off Windows Update, hence go with Nvidia's own.


    Temps of your PC are ok? (can use Everest for this, under Computer > Sensors menu)

    Another thought is memory failing, so run Memtest86+

    Hi Halo.
    Yes vista SP1. It just happened a few times today, i rebooted and it hasn't happened since.
    Nothing new installed and the temp is CPU 30c WDC 33C.

    Does that link for the drivers work for 32bit halo?
