error message

    I have a program that used to run fine but now when i try to run it i get this message

    ("C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The file system is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.choose 'close' to terminate the application.")

    i have noticed the same message before on another program also.i am running xp pro.any ideas?? thanks

    what are the programs? Also, are they older programs that maybe the compatiblity mode on your system accidently (or purposely by a background program) got changed.
