Error Message

Please Help. I get the following error message when I boot up or try to load or remove software. C:\Winnt\System32\config.nt The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. I went to microsoft and found a resolution about run...cmd and enter 3 lines. And place 2 files from the notepad into my system 32 folder. None of these worked...Any ideas on how to correct the problem? Thanks John
