Error msg when turning on/restarting computer

When I turn on my computer or restart it, I get an error message box that says:

TransferAgent.exe - Application Error

The application failed to initaialize properly(0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

I can click on OK and then the computer runs fine, but how can I make the error message go away/not appear to begin with?

You are probably seeing a side effect of "the new efficiency."

It doesn't make a lot of sense to have two places to check startup items, when one suffices. Note, I am not endorsing disabling things from msconfig, but its an easy enough interface to follow and isn't as confusing as the altogether useless Windows Defender, imo.

As for TransferAgent.exe, while it can be a legit program, or not--we should really know more about it. Disabling a side effect of a bigger problem isn't going to be as helpful as you might think.

Go to the start, or orb, and in the run, or search box, type msconfig. Go to the startup tabe and locate TransferAgent, if you can. Widen the command column so we can see the complete path to the file(s) being called. Then post a screenshot. The easiest way if you have Vista, or 7, is to go to start, search, or run box and type snip. Take a capture of the msconfig window and attach it to a post in this thread.
