    Hi Meloney and welcome :)

What would be the full error message and when does it appear at boot or is it random?

A possible is that their still is a command key left in the registry RUN hives that at boot points to this file to load, and when the system cannot find it it throws out an error.

Try this, its not a full fix but may help us trace the location, goto Start > Run and type msconfig > click the Startup tab and do you see any reference to MWSBAR.DLL, if so un-tick it and click apply then restart your PC, do yo ustill get the error?

    Yes.

So if unticked does the message still appear at boot?

I have also been informed that this DLL file is part of mywebsearch, which is known malware/spyware.. so I will move your thread into the malware forum of the site as we may need you to run through our guide below, just to make doublely sure your free of any malware on your PC.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)
    • Bitdefender
    • Panda Scan
    • HijackThis

I know the steps look long a daunting, but they are easy to follow and have been countless times proven to help start the removal of malware from a PC :)

Ah ok good :) ... so it may have looked as if your antivirus or security scanner deleted the main files, we will still need to delete the registry entry for that file running as MSCONFIG is only a temporary measure, so do run through the guide I posted above as a precaution, in case any other malware is resident on your PC.

@ meloney...I have merged your threads together. Please do not start new threads for the same issue. It had only been 10 minutes since your reply to this thread and you having started a new thread. This forum is staffed by volunteers who provide assistance for free...they have jobs, families and other commitments outside of the forum.

Threads are answered oldest to newest...if you bump your thread (reply with a hello? anyone out there or similar) you are sending your thread to the end of the queue as threads are answered oldest to newest. While I can sympathize with your frustration and wanting an answer, a little patience on your part would be helpful.:) Thanks!:)

    Hi Meloney

Try this, It seems that this malware gets stuck in the java cache, which can be flushed, using the below should clear that up,

Close all browsers, Start > Settings > Control panel > Java Plugin *version number* > Choose Cache and click remove JAR Cache.

also if your Antivirus picked the virus, up where did it tell you they were located, if different to above?
